Thank you for your answer!

Here are some ideas about what your answer could have included:

Challenges:

  • There is only a sidewalk on one side of the street, but it is on the opposite side from where Niels wants to go.

  • There are no crosswalks visible that Niels could use to safely access the sidewalk.

  • Potholes and uneven surfaces pose tripping hazards.

  • There are no curb cuts to get onto the grass area on the side of the road.

Design strategies:

  • Pedestrian paths and sidewalks: Maintain roads to reduce tripping hazards, including from roots and cracked pavement.

  • Pedestrian paths and sidewalks: Design accessible sidewalks on all streets to connect people to where they need to go.

  • Pedestrian crossings: Provide pedestrian crossings at every block, and install mid-block crossings on long street blocks

Policies:

  • Street design guidelines

  • Accessibility plans and age-friendly strategies
