Summary of key learnings from this module
When starting to think about implementing a dementia-inclusive project in your community, it is important to think about how strategies and actions from all three design scales can build on each other to create a more dementia-inclusive environment.
1
It is difficult to transform a neighbourhood all at once. Cities can start by considering which areas are most under-served, and target small-scale interventions that can help people living with dementia in the community.
2
Local governments can work in partnership with community organizations, people with lived experience, and care partners to identify high-priority design strategies and actions, identify community areas or hotspots that would benefit from a pilot project, and carry out pilot projects with the community to see how the proposed design changes impact people living with dementia and their care partners.
