Welcome to the dementia-inclusive
neighbourhood design learning modules!

These learning modules build on the Dementia-inclusive Planning and Design Guidelines, published in 2023 by the DemSCAPE project and Happy Cities. The training provides you with the knowledge and tools to identify and implement dementia-inclusive planning and design in your community. The content is divided into seven modules:

  1. Introduction

  2. Design principles

  3. Neighbourhood planning and design

  4. Street design 

  5. Detailed design 

  6. Case studies

  7. Implementation

We recommend completing the modules in order, but you are welcome to start at any point. At any time, you can use the main menu above to jump to a specific learning module.

Note: The modules include open-answer questions to help you reflect on how to implement dementia-inclusive design in your community. You will be given the option to keep your answers private or share them with us anonymously. Your answers will only be shared with the DemSCAPE project and Happy Cities. Your input may help us improve our content and inform future policy and research projects.
